Mission |
The purpose of the Scarborough-Phillips Library web site is to provide the
SEU community with organized access to library resources, services and information
in support of the University and the Library mission.
The content of the library web site is organized into four strategic areas.
- Access to resources
-
As stated in the library mission statement, "The Scarborough-Phillips
Library collects materials that support the curricular and research needs of a
teaching university." The library web site serves as the primary point of
access to these materials. Efficient and effective access begins with a well designed
and maintained library web site.
- Communication and Promotion
-
The web site is often the first point of contact with library
patrons and remains the primary communication medium. Clarity in language, organization
and page layout are crucial to effective distribution of information concerning
library services, organization, policies, activities, and other pertinent details.
- User interaction
-
The web site utilizes forms, e-mail and other technologies
to facilitate interaction with users and to provide a responsive environment to
encourage use of library materials and services.
- Instruction and Learning
-
The web site serves as a provider of intellectual access
by utilizing opportunities to teach research methodology and guide students in
accessing and using library materials.
