Alumni Reunion, 1961
The 1961 St. Edward's University Alumni Reunion was a two day affair held in April of that year. The highlight of the event was an awards banquet and dance on Saturday night. Homer McElroy, class of '33, was honored as the outstanding alumnus who had been out of school for more than 25 years. Burke O'Rourke, class of '51, was recognized as exemplifying the ideals of St. Edward's and Pat Finn, also a member of the class of '51, was awarded the Alumni Association's Christian Family medal. That year about 200 alumni and their families attended the reunion. This year's reunion (called Homecoming) will be held the weekend of February 22-24 and more than 800 attendees are expected. Highlights of the 2008 event are an opening welcome dinner and alumni awards ceremony, the Golden Guard luncheon celebrating those who graduated 50 years ago this year, New College and School of Education special events, and a picnic and market event called Hilltop Homegrown.
For more information about the 2008 Homecoming event see the official SEU Homecoming website.
