"New" Science Building Dedicated on October 13, 1958
The original Fleck Hall was completed and opened for classes in the fall of 1958 and was dedicated on October 13 of that year.
The Hilltopper for that date covered the event and described the new structure.
"Today at 11 o’clock the dedication ceremony for the Science Building, St. Edward’s newest addition,
will begin. Weather permitting, the ceremony is planned to take place outside with chairs erected for guests in the parking lot
and a stage placed at the end of the parking lot near the new Science Building.
"The structure is formed in reinforced concrete and all partitions are made of a burgundy- blend structural tile. A large shop for the construction and maintenance of scientific apparatus is found in the basement, which also contains a radiation laboratory, and a mechanical room plus storage space.
"What building would be complete without some kind of lobby for students to grab a quick smoke between classes, so naturally the Science Building has a simple, but adequate lobby at its main entrance"
