No, it’s the 1903 reconstruction of the Main Building.
The St. Edward’s University Main Building was originally completed in
1888, but burned to the ground on April, 9, 1903. The reconstruction began almost
immediately and by the time school started on Sept. 9, 1903, a mere five months
after the fire, students had moved into a completed portion of the building and
classes began on time. The new building was dedicated on St. Edward’s Day,
October 13, 1903 when the postponed commencement ceremony from the previous spring
was also held. The little donkey in the left hand corner of the photograph seems
to be contemplating the enormity of the job ahead.
