This building was built in 1894 after the drilling of an artesian well which
supplied the indoor swimming pool with water. The lower level of the building
housed the pool, and the upper level was used as a gymnasium. The building was
severely damaged by a tornado in 1922. Originally called the Natatorium, the building
was remodeled in 1974 into a student union facility and restaurant and was known
as the Rathskeller, and then as the Reunion. In 1997-1999 the pool area was filled
in and the building was converted and renamed Fondren Hall, current home of the
campus bookstore and the Quick Dip.
