To find books located in the library:   Search the online catalog. The catalog uses standardized words or phrases to identify materials on the same topic. The following is a sample of LC subject headings for various education topics. General Subject Heading Education To narrow add subheading(s) ex: Education--Research Education--Research--United States --Philosophy --Aims and Objectives --Curricula --History --Social Aspects --Economic Aspects Specialization in Education Multicultural education Special Education Early Childhood Education Education, Bilingual Education, Humanistic Education, Preschool Various aspects of the field of Education Educational Innovations Educational Vouchers Educational Technology Educational Law and Legislation Educational Psychology Educational Tests and Measurements Education may be used as a subheading for specialized populations. ex: Children with disabilities--Education Children with disabilities--Education--United States Gifted Children-- African Americans-- Mexican Americans-- Related subject headings Learning, Psychology of Curriculum Planning Teaching Classroom Management Subject or discipline with subheading --study and teaching For example: Mathematics--Study and teaching English Language-- Science-- If the library does not have a book(s) you need:   You can search WorldCat, or other catalogs, and request materials through Interlibrary Loan. Library staff will borrow the materials from another library and check them out to you. It usually requires 4 to 10 days to receive items. WorldCat is a worldwide union catalog which includes the holdings of more than 9,000 member institutions.

Online Databases
	Specialized databases for education include:
	ERIC (EBSCO) Contains abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice. The ERIC database encompasses both Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE), which indexes journal articles, and Resources in Education (RIE), which indexes documents, including reports, papers, guides, and books. The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) is sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education.
