To provide remote access to online
databases for our students, faculty and staff, we use EZproxy.
This proxy system provides authentication through your EdWeb/Admin
login and password.

| How do I access databases |
| |
Off-campus database access is available
for current students, faculty, and staff. Just click on the links on the database
pages. A page will open asking for your login and password: |
 |
| |
| |
If you are a Student: Use your student
login and password as if you were using EdWeb.
If you are Staff or Faculty: Use your Admin login and password.
You should normally have to enter your login and password once
each time you access the databases. If you exit out of the browser, you will
be asked for your information when you restart the browser and begin to access
the databases. |

| Troubleshooting FAQs |
| |
Listed
below are some common problems encountered when trying to access library databases
from off-campus. If you have any questions or problems, please contact Reference
Services at refdesk@stedwards.edu or
448-8474.
Q: When I enter my login/password, I get an error saying
that my "login
or password is incorrect". What should I do?
A: You can contact the SEU Computer Help Desk at 448-8443
(see: http://www.stedwards.edu/it_dept/computer/index.html,
for hours and other contact options).
The login/password used to access library
databases is the same as what you use to access online registration, EdWeb, staff information, etc. These are managed by SEU
Computer Services.
Q: After clicking on a database, I get a "Page cannot be found" error.
What should I do?
A: This could be a problem specific to the database, or an incompatibility
between your system and EZProxy. There are several
steps you can try:
·
If your system has a firewall, then you will have to make an exception
for:
- libr.stedwards.edu
- port 2048
Windows XP users: Windows XP comes with its
own firewall, and Microsoft recommends that you activate
this feature to secure your computer. Read
these instructions to open up port 2048.
Note: If you are trying to connect from work, then you can talk to your
IT department or network administrator about how your network is configured to
see if any of the above settings can be adjusted. |
