Creating a Persistent Link
You must use persistent links in Blackboard or online syllabi and reading
lists. These links can be used to connect students to full-text content
from library resources, on- or off-campus.
Why Do I Need to Use a Persistent Link?
Persistent links help you work within copyright guidelines, as in most
cases downloading an article from a library database and uploading it
into Blackboard or onto a class website is prohibited by the contract
agreement between the library and the database vendor.
Linking to articles also helps the library keep accurate usage statistics
for our databases.
What is a persistent link?
A "persistent link" or a "durable URL" is a link/URL that does not expire.
How do I Find the Persistent Link?
First, locate the article in a library database or online journal collection.
If you need to find it, follow these steps:
- Click on PERIODICALS/JOURNALS
from the library's homepage.
- Search for the journal title
- Look at the date ranges listed.
If a date range listed includes the date of your article, and it includes
a link, click on the link.
- Search for the article by title or author.
Next, locate the publisher or database name in the list below and click
on the text in the Instructions column. If the database/publisher is not
